about

Ben Krahl (a.k.a. bensnburner) is a multi-instrumentalist, sound collector, and experimental producer whose work blurs the line between composition and curation. Driven by a lifelong fascination with sound, his current work includes elements from decades of private recordings—spanning childhood tape decks, field recordings captured on tour, and sonic impressions from remote corners of the world.

His archive is vast, intimate, and unpredictable: doom metal rehearsals, chants from the Taiwanese jungle, the ambient texture of a cavernous hall, or analog Synthesizers. But rather than layering samples, Ben crafts emotional narratives from these recordings—always using material he’s performed or captured himself. The result is immersive, genre-defying, and profoundly personal.

With years of excessive international touring behind him and a background that ranges from giving jazz workshops in Asia to founding his own label during the pandemic, Ben’s artistic path bridges raw intuition and structured development. Since 2021, his label bensnburner records has released multiple projects, amassing millions of streams on Spotify and securing steady placements in editorial playlists.

Ben is also bassist and founder of bunsenburner, whose critically acclaimed 2025 Album Reverie fuses distorted riffs with vinyls salvaged from street corners—transforming found sounds into heavy, hypnotic grooves.

He also teaches Artist Development, Media and Contract Law, and Music Marketing at HKDM Freiburg, a university of art, design, and music—sharing his real-world insights with emerging creatives in an academic setting. In 2023, he founded the Institute for Empirical Random Research (IEZF) —a platform for global artists to explore randomness and coincidence as tools for artistic innovation.

Across solo works, interdisciplinary collaborations, and conceptual initiatives, Ben Krahl moves through the world as both archivist and alchemist—turning the overlooked into the unforgettable.
